De La Warr Pavilion Bexhill On Sea
Bexhill On Sea
Welcome to the De La Warr Pavilion and Bexhill on Sea.
We are a Grade One Listed 1930s modernist building on the sea front in Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex, recently refurbished as a centre for the arts.
As well as being one of the UK's most celebrated architectural landmarks, the De La Warr Pavilion presents a programme of inspiring contemporary art and live events, which has included exhibitions by Anthony Gormley, Joseph Beuys, Grayson Perry, Tomoko Takahashi, Catherine Yass and Andy Warhol, and performances by ground-breaking artists of international repute such as Patti Smith, Laurie Anderson, Femi Kuti, Duane Eddy, The Fall, Band of Horses, The Decemberists, The Unthanks, Jose Gonzales, Regina Spektor, Elvis Costello, EELS, Neutral Milk Hotel and many many more.
Our live programme also nurtures experimental, new and emerging acts, and has seen performances from the likes of Mount Kimbie, Micachu and the Shapes and Speech Debelle.
The De La Warr Pavilion has instigated a number of creative collaborations during the Heritage Orchestra's residency, which saw them join forces with a host of incredible musicians such Beardyman+DJ Swith+ Gabriel Prokofiev, and in the second, UNKLE.
The busy Café Bar & Kitchen serves light lunches, crisp salads and freshly - prepared soups and sandwiches to enjoy using locally-sourced ingredients. Our tasty and generously - sized home-made cakes, scones and cookies are too tempting to resist and we serve Illy Coffee and Fair Trade teas. There is a children's lunch menu for those who want to treat the family. We also serve bar food before evening shows.
There is a large car park (free after 8pm) and free parking along the seafront. The Pavilion is less than 10 minutes walk from the station.
